Community Kitchen Meals

at All Saints, Winterton

Our Story

Where It All Began

Background: All Saints’ vision for the reordering of the church, from the start of planning in 2008, always included a small commercial kitchen so that hot meals could be provided for our community. While a lunch club for older residents was seen as most important at that time, in more recent years other needs have come to the fore. These have included both families on limited incomes with children in need of good food and residents of all ages who live alone with limited social contact. So by the time the kitchen was constructed, the vision had developed for the kitchen to offer a meal service for the whole community.

The only way such a service could be sustainable was to offer ‘free’ meals but request donations from all those who can afford to pay something. It would depend on volunteer helpers. This service was started in early 2024. The church is most grateful to Debs Wieland who led this development and established our Community Kitchen in Winterton. At present the service only offers lunch and evening meal on Thursdays as the number of helpers is limited. Meals on other days could be offered if the number of helpers was increased.

If you have ideas how the kitchen might better serve all those who live in our area, please make contact and let us know.
